A Springfield man was sentenced to three years of probation after he was found guilty of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of an unregistered firearm. SPRINGFIELD -- A Springfield man will serve three years of probation after he was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Springfield on Tuesday on federal charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count of possession of an unregistered firearm. Martin Fernandez, 24, was charged by Springfield authorities in January 2014 with possession of a sawed-off 16-gauge shotgun after he sold the weapon to a street informant. He was later indicted by a federal grand jury.    Fernandez served a three-year state prison sentence for possession...
